Dont Sacrifice your personality for love....

I am writing on this topic, as have seen so many friends of mine who have done this.. Love is something when people dont no where are they going...they just move in the flow of love. They even dont care that they are changing themselves in order to make the other one happy and nt to create any mishap in the relation.... But is it worth to change your personality for the one whom you love??

What I believe is that one should not sacrifice his/her personality, identity for love, infact if it is true love then you just dont have to loose something. Infact you will only be adding values in your personality. Love is like a sand as much as you try to hold them sooner it will get away from you....so just be yourself, love yourself and believe in love. True love make their own way......

interesting and a very valid point... the person who loves you should accept you as you are...he/she shoudn't expect you to change anything in you....

nice post, Don’t change for love… Love will find you… and if it finds you worthy will be happy with who you are, and will want nothing from you, but to SHARE your self with itself. As Gibran writes.. “… may you be like the strings on the same lute… even though you are separate you quiver with the same music…”

"Love is like a sand as much as you try to hold them sooner it will get away from you" sounds like u r very unhappy with the things going around u.
For me love is like faith once broken, its hard to rebuilt it again. Hope u understand ma feelings.

All the best for the future dost. Be in touch

Well said Shefali, but I wud like to differ slightly. I agree with Priyanka that "Love will take its shape and everything will fall in place after that".... which indicates that a person adjusts his nature, and tendencies to accomodate the other person or people around. That's why we are humane... becoz, we adapt! So it is bound to happen. We OUGHT to change!

But your point is -- whether its right to do it consciously or not?

On this, I would say that if you feel that you are paying a price, or as if u r 'sacrificing', then please dont do it....If its pinching you, then its not worth it!

If it is true love, then you wud sacrifice your 'Self' and personality with PLEASURE and wud be Happy to do so. When in true love, one is not even aware that he is 'sacrificing' anything.... It just happens on its own, and when u become aware of it, you feel happy and thankful to the other person.

And, I dont think, Love is like sand.... and it wud go away if one tries to hold it tight.... Not always! I feel, Love is like peace, it comes on its own... we cant put efforts to feel it. If it is there, we will automatically feel it.
And Yes, True Love as you said, will find its own way... we dont have to bother!!!!
Finally, I want to illustrate some great love - examples of personality changes --- Like Saira Banu/Dilip Kumar, Jaya Bachchan/Amitabh; Kajol/Ajay Devgan; Sharmila Tagore/M.A.K Pataudi; Neetu Singh/Rishi Kapoor; Firoz Gandhi/Indira Gandhi... all, changed there personality and are pretty succesful in all walk sof life!

Thank you all for such an appreciating and encouraging statements to make this discussion more beautiful.....But one thing just wanted to make clear that whatever I wrote was just which I felt and yes everyone wait for the true love in his/her own life at some point of time so do I.....but am not unhappy, life isnt fair enough but still its good...and I truly believe in God, as he is always there with me in good and bad times...

Cheers,
Shefali.
